RDA Part 3: Performances

This year at RDA our company performed Travis’ “Dearly Departed”, my “A Day in the Life of a PrimaDiva”, and Luis’, “Ensuenos.” I thought we were very well represented; we showed that we could do contemporary, theatre tap, pointe tap, classical ballet, and neo classical. I was very proud to be a representative for BAHBT.

The cast of “Dearly Departed” minus Travis (he was busy doing his hair!)

My Piece closed Act II of Emerging Night and it was one of the best times we had ever done it. I was so happy with the way it went and was so proud of my cast.

This is clip of the number when it was performed at our Adjudication in February.

On Gala night, we performed Ensuenos next to last in the show. I was extremely nervous… I don’t know why though… anyways, the number went so well and we (including Luis!) were all very pleased.

Here’s a pic of Heather, Dev, and Cara backstage getting ready.

RDA Part 1: Calmes

A few weeks ago, I emailed Richard Calmes, the RDASW photographer. I’ve blogged about him before and as most of you know I’m a big fan of his work. He was very sweet in his reply to my email and I was ecstatic when he asked if me and a few friends wanted to do a photoshoot with him the day before festival started. We were all so excited!! So Wednesday afternoon, Dev, Cara, Heather, Travis, Aaron, Max and myself went to a few different locations in San Antonio and got some beautiful shots. Meeting Richard and his wife, Holley was the absolute highlight of my trip.

Home and in full gear

We got off the bus at the studio yesterday at 1pm and then had to be back at the studio at 6pm for a Grease run thru. even though the overall energy in the run was low, I feel like we’re in pretty good shape.

So as for RDA, it was fun, stressful, exciting, tiring, nerve-racking, awesome, and all together a wonderful trip. It was nice to get out of Houston for a bit, even though I was soon ready to come back home. I’ll break the trip into parts for the next few blog posts.

Happy Monday!

I leave tomorrow for RDA (Regional Dance America), a dance convention for regional ballet companies where we have classes during the day and performances at night. I’ve been going for 6 years and this will be my last year!

I’ve made so many great memories at RDA and I’m so excited for this year. I’ve got some great roomies to hang with, accomplished teachers to take from, fabulous dances to perform, beautiful dresses to wear, and some amazing opportunities. Wohoo!

This is a pic of Kenz and I from Showcase night at RDA last year. Its gonna be weird not sitting next to her this year…

I’ll be back on Monday!

I’m so excited for…

1) Getting my new jeans and bathing suit in the mail tomorrow!!!

2) RDA. RDA Roomies! RDA classes. Meeting Richard Calmes! RDA shows. Performing Travis, Luis, and my’s pieces. Dressing up pretty.

3) a very exciting photo shoot in San Antonio before RDA (details forthcoming)

4) Grease. We’ve almost finished staging the show and it looks great. Kevin has made the show so fresh and fun and we’re all having so much fun. Add costumes, wigs, lights, and an audience… OOH I CAN’T WAIT!

5) Rockette audition on the 29th of next month!

RDA pieces

I’m so happy to announce that my piece will be performing at Emerging Night at RDA, closing the 2nd Act. I’m so proud of my dancers who looked amazing and I can’t wait for us to perform it again!
