Pictures, Pictures, and more Pictures

I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to photograph several of my friends over the last few weeks. First was friend and former teacher, Lauren Garson. We shot on the High Line which has extended so much since I last saw in May. Lauren is absolutely beautiful and it was so much fun taking pictures and reconnecting.

Next I did a shoot at the gorgeous Conservatory Garden with dear friend, Ashley Klinger. Ashley recently got back from doing the tour of A Chorus Line in Tokyo and I’ve been living vicariously through her on Facebook. I always love photographing her and we couldn’t have loved that location more!

Last time I photographed the beautiful Audrey Thelemann was about a year ago when I was in rehearsals for Radio City and we were discussing her dream to join me in the line. Well even though I may not be there again this year, Audrey is the newest and youngest Rockette here in NY this season and I couldn’t be more happy for her! I was so lucky to have her come over on her day off yesterday and shoot on my roof at sunset. I love what we got!

Little Letters

It’s been a year since my last Little Letters so I thought it was about time to bring it back!

Dear New York, though I will be leaving you for a while soon, I’ll miss you. I won’t miss the winter though.

Dear Houston, it’s amazing how often I find myself missing you.

Dear Michael Tapley, thank you for being the absolute perfect mentor for me. I couldn’t be more excited to share the stage with you in WC!

Dear Mom, I cannot put into words how much I love you. Thank you for always being there to listen, talk, comfort, encourage, and direct me.

Dear Internet, you rock. It’s because of you I can sit in my living room and watch General Conference.

Dear clouds, I’m in love with your always changing patterns. I love the light rays and the silver linings you create. You are stunning.

Dear pasta, thank you for being yummy and easy to make. Maybe one of these days I’ll learn to cook something else.

Dear me, get your butt into a ballet class this week!

Dear Fall, you are my favorite. I love seeing the leaves change colors.

Dear Radio City, I’m not going to lie… I do miss you. And it is hard sometimes. But I’m forever grateful to everything that you taught me. I was extremely lucky to have you as my first professional job. I’m grateful for the friendships I gained and the lessons I learned.

Dear Itunes, get ready to put the White Christmas album on repeat!!!

Dear President Monson, you are the best storyteller. Oh how I’ve enjoyed listening to you this Conference weekend.

Dear you, I need a new book to read. Got any suggestions?

Happy Sunday! I’m so enjoying the talks being spoken in General Conference. Looking forward to everything I’ve got going on this week.

It Only Takes A Moment

So if you haven’t already heard, Hurricane Irene is supposed to pass through Manhattan this weekend. As they say on SNL, ooooohh weee, what up with that? It’s crazy that I moved from Texas to New York, only to be in the path of a hurricane! Crazy talk! I’m happy to inform you that where I live, Washington Heights, is probably one of the safest areas to be on the island. We’re on high ground plus it on the north west side, so it looks like we’re just gonna get a lot of rain.

Paige and I have loaded up on everything in the hurricane pirrouette prep list, and we’re ready for Miss Irene. And when I hear the name Irene, all I can think of is Hello Dolly. Anyone, else?

So with our flashlights, candles, playing cards, and coloring books, we’re gonna make the best of this hurricane weekend.

To my fellow New Yorkers, stay safe! And to everyone back at home in Tejas, thanks for all the well wishes. Hopefully this won’t be too bad!

love and laducas,

p.s. king aaron and his familia got into town today. perfect timing, right? storm or no storm, I’m glad he’s here and can’t wait to get all of this stupid rain stuff out of the way so we can play in the city together.

snapped this on my roof the other night! can’t imagine what its gonna look like when the storm hits land!

Things I’m Thinking

-I could seriously listen to music all day long.

-I love this city so much, but it is much easier to live in when you have a job.

-I’m kind of missing my long hair… Kind of…

-Broadway needs to revive more classics and cast me.

-I love having Paige Wheat as my replacement roomie. We have so much fun! I’ll be sad to see her leave me soon.

-Gina and I always have the best of times on our little outings.

-King A gets here Friday. To say I’m excited would be an understatement!

-Recently discovered the vocal stylings of Sophie Madeleine. Where has she been my whole life?

-Why is it that guys have prettier eyelashes than girls?

-There’s a hurricane headed towards New York… Say waaaa??? I just moved from Texas to get by a hurricane. Seriously Mother Nature?

-Went to Ellen’s Stardust for dinner tonight. Let me just say that that wait staff is so incredibly talented and I think they’re freakin fierce, however I heard way too much back phrasing for one night!

-If you have the Iphone and do not have Instagram, do yourself a favor and join the fun. And follow me: ccphotographyny.

More another day. Now I must sleep to rest up for the hurricane! Yikes…!

Friends Come to Visit

Last week, Xavier, his amazing mama, beautiful sister, Angelica, and her crazy funny boyfriend, Nathan were in NY for one of Angelica’s pageants. Got to spend a lot of time with them doing touristy stuff which is always fun! Love that family and it’s always great having my Bubba around!

On stage after seeing Sister Act on Broadway with their friend Lance Roberts. Loved the show!

Come back and visit real soon, y’all, ya here!

Camera Drama

So when I was packing Sunday night, I failed to find the battery charger for my big camera. Sad. But mother dear said I could charge my battery with her charger that night so I could go to the city with a fully charged battery and then buy a new charger when I got into the city. On Monday morning when I left for the airport, I assumed Mom put my battery back in my camera and she assumed that I did it. Lesson to learn: never assume!

My battery should be arriving in my mailbox today and I couldn’t be more happy. Thanks for sending it mom!

Planning lots of photoshoots with some friends so stay tuned.

Pics to come soon.

I’ll go back to Manhattan

This has been my first summer in 6 years that I haven’t spent in New York. At the beginning of summer I wasn’t sure how I would like being away from my city. Looking back, I have to say it was one of the best summers I’ve ever had! So glad I was home for June 3rd. Had the time of my life in eating macaroons with Nikki in Paris for a week. Got to spend lots of time with my nieces and nephew and wonderful sisters and brother in laws. Then I spent three weeks building life long friendships with the most amazing group of people and doing what I’ve always wanted to do; getting payed to perform a character that got to sing and dance her butt off on a stage I’ve been dreaming about performing on since I was a little girl!

Not to shabby of  a summer if I say so myself!

I’m back in the city now and loving NY more than ever. I’m beyond excited to see where life takes me next! In the words of Eric Robertson, fellow cast mate in Urban, “New Life. New Look. New You. New York!”

xo.
