A Fresh Start…. These words keep ringing in my ear today. Today is the last day of 2009 and I’m counting down the hours till 2010. When the clock strikes midnight, it’ll mark the start of what I hope to be an amazing year. 2010 will be the year I move to NY, the year I learn to (finally) drive, the year I graduate from high school, the year I start my professional musical theatre career, and hopefully many other spectacular events. Words cannot describe my excitement and anticipation for this brand new year.
As those of you who are a part of my life and follow this blog you are aware that it definitely has been a very trying year for me and my family. I won’t bore you by giving myself a pity party on this blog, but I will say I have experienced more pain, sorrow, anger, frustration, as well as happiness, appreciation, gratitude, and love in this year than all of my other years combined. I’ve really gotten a taste of “the real world” and “adult life” and I must say; It’s not all the fabulousness that they make it up for. That being said, i know that since I survived through 2009, I can do anything.
I’m not a huge believer of New Years resolutions (I try to set goals continuously throughout the year) but my overall goals for 2010 are 1) to be kinder to myself and 2) to not worry so much. Both are huge problems of mine and that I wanna say started happening post June 3. I don’t know why, but it’s definitely got to stop. I know I’ll be a much happier person because of it.
So yes… In approximately 5 hours and 40 mins, we will all get to experience a fresh start. Whatever challenges or misfortunes that came upon us is 2009 will be over. Its a new year. Its a fresh start.
“The best of all gifts around any Christmas tree: the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each other.”
I had quite a wonderful Christmas day. I enjoyed the food, laughs, presents, conversations, and love that filled the day. So many pictures to come, but for now I want to wish everyone a very merry Christmas!!!

Last Saturday was BanB’s Annual Holiday Party! It was held at Alessandra’s Residence (which is gorgeous) and we had an absolute splendid time running around in our elf themed costumes.
We also found out who our Secret Santa’s were. Aaron and I had already figured out ours were Devin and Cara’s it was just a matter of who was who’s. We guessed correctly and I had Cara (kind of ironic seeing as i was her Secret Santa last year!) Shoelie was so excited by her last presents and I’m so happy I got to be her Secret Santa.
I’m a fairly clean and organized person EXCEPT for when it comes to my bedroom. Today I’ve been spending the day cleaning it and getting rid of things. Thanks to my lovely iTunes my “Cleaning Room Playlist” has really helped a lot! This song has been played the most:
Great song, right?!
I won’t show you a before picture, but maybe I’ll post an after photo! No promises though… 😉
“A bad day in New York City is still better than a good day anywhere else.”
Hello readers! Today’s topic is my real home, New York City. I decided to do a blog post about New York on Wednesday. Now King A, without my knowing also did a post about New York. We really are the same mind these days…
Ok, well during Wednesday Night Youth Activity (Mutual) at church, some of the leaders and girls were talking about colleges and future plans and stuff like that. The attention eventually turned to me and the question of “What schools are you applying to, Caitlin?” came up. I was ready for the obvious reaction from them as I said, “I’m not going to college.” They were all of course flabbergasted. Mind you, most of them did not know me very well. Some didn’t even know that I’m a performer. So I continued to explain my plan. Graduate. Move to NY. Auditions. Hopefully get Rockettes. Yada Yada Yada…
The topic of conversation than shifted to New York and their experiences there. Here are some of the following statements I heard, “New York is great to visit but its to smelly to live there.” “I visited their and after a day I wanted to go home.” “The subway is disgusting. I couldn’t stand it.” “Did you hear there are rats in the subway?” “I couldn’t see the sky!” “It’s not green enough there!” It broke my heart to hear those words. That was my home they were dissing!!! I naturally defending my loverly city.
I love everything about New York. I love walking in Central Park. I love looking up at all the skyscrapers. I love shopping in Chinatown and Soho. I love taking a taxi. I love fighting for a seat on the Subway. I love street performers and artists. I love Time Square. I love celebrity sightings. I love pretzels and hot dogs sold from street carts. I love how you can get anything you need at any time of the day. I love being able to walk to a Broadway Theatre. I love all the restaurants there. I love the business. I love Broadway Dance Center. I love the people there. I LOOOOVE New york Pizza. I love all the different cultures that thrive there. I love that people can go to New York to fufill their dreams. I’m moving there next fall for all these reason and many more.
I’ll leave you with images of me in New York. Wiggins can attest that I thrive in New York. As soon as I land in Laguardia, I’m home.
This pic of Devin I took during Nutcracker is kind of how I’ve been feeling since the shows been over. We got one day off after our last show than it was back to class. My body is aching and hurting but thank goodness for the Epson Salts my Secret Santa gave me. Secret Santa, you are awesome.
Speaking of Santa…DuckDuckDana is doing a little ditty over at her blog where you can write a letter to Santa and she’ll post it on her blog. I’ve really enjoyed reading everyone’s letters. I’ve been working on mine and will send it to her soon.
But since Nutcrackers been done I’ve been able to really spend time with loved ones and enjoyed all the wonderful festivities. I’ve bought and wrapped presents, listened to wonderful Christmas songs, and finally put up my family’s collection of Nutcrackers on the fireplace mantel. Plus I got my nails done (word to the wise: wait till after you’ve doe all your shopping to get your nails done), bangs cut, and my ears pierced.
For upcoming activities I have:
-BanB holiday party
-Galleria shopping with my boy
-slumber party with Nikki, Nat, and Avery
-hopefully getting to see all my college friends that are home
What are your current holiday activities you find so enjoyable?
